Skate-a-thon October 8, 2017


We are continuing the tradition in raising money for DSRD and the Special Olympics of Delaware by hosting our 2nd Annual Skate-a-thon at Christiana Skating Center on October 8th from 5:30pm to 9pm.

Come out to meet our skaters, play games, and skate with us. Adults are $3 & kids under 10 are free. You can also sponsor your favorite skaters who will be skating to raise money. Please dress up and show off your COSTUMES! We all will!

We are also featuring a scrimmage at half-time with, so come catch some derby and Halloween festivities!

Suicide Quads – September 10 Rule Breaker Bout


DSRD Presents: SUICIDE QUADS! September 10 at Christiana Skating Center. Doors open at 5:30pm, the bout starts at 6pm. Tickets are available for $10 in advance at  or at the door for $12.

This September we are featuring Heroes vs. Villains in the ultimate showdown arena: ROLLER DERBY. This is a Rule Breaker game, meaning there will be changes in the typical derby rules rules that you can pick during the action! So come check us out and cheer on the Heroes by changing the rules for the Villains or challenge the Heroes to overcome YOUR RULE BREAKERS!

July 9 — Skate Elmo’s Fire Summer Sur5al tournament


Come one, come all: DSRD is hosting another sur5al tournament!

The event will be at the Christiana Skating Center 801 Christiana Road, Newark, DE. Doors open at 5:30 pm and the first whistle is at 6pm. Tickets for spectators are $12 at the door and kids under 10 are free.

If you’re new to sur5al, here’s the basic rules:
* Teams of 5 skaters play each other once in a full 2 minute jam
* Teams may be co-ed, but no more than two men per team
* Teams must bring black and white jerseys and their own helmet covers
* Teams will vary in level from newly bouting to advanced skills, please be sportsmanlike.
* There’s no calling off the jam
* Penalties will be served for 20 seconds. If a skater fouls out, the team skates short for the remainder of the tournament. Teams can skate with as few as three people.
* For each jam, 5 Sur5al points are awarded for a win, 2 Sur5al points each for a draw, and zero Sur5al points for a loss, additionally each lead jammer status earns 1 point (max of 6 points can be awarded per Jam).
* The “winners” are the team with the highest number of Sur5al points.
* Winning teams will be rewarded $100, $50, and $25 for first, second, and third place respectively.
